In this interview, Hans Ulrich Obrist presents the fifth chapter of his exhibition series dedicated to the archives of artists he has known. This episode is dedicated to Maria Lassnig.
Through previously unseen archives and reconstructions of past exhibitions, this retrospective traces the singular path of Maria Lassnig, a major figure in contemporary art. The focus is on her radical approach to painting, centered on "body awareness," as well as her deep commitment: for her, art and life were inseparable. She continued painting almost until the very end, convinced that existence without creation was unthinkable.
