LoopOfFun
LoopOfFun is an interdisciplinary European project that develops a conceptual and technological methodology for the production of fungal-based materials.
LoopOfFun is an interdisciplinary European project that develops a conceptual and technological methodology for the production of fungal-based materials.
The project is built upon four pillars:
- Identification of fungal strains with superior properties for material synthesis.
- Development of genetically encoded sensors for reading and writing mechanical and structural properties.
- Development of a robotic platform for efficient production of living materials and new growth protocols.
- Holistic approach to product design.
Within the framework of the LoopOfFun project, the development of open-loop and closed-loop control will enable the efficient and precise regulation of the mechanical and structural properties of fungal-based living materials. The development and applicability of the new materials will be demonstrated through the production of two demonstrator materials: one as a structural material and the other for pollutant degradation.
Atelier LUMA/LUMA Arles participates in LoopOfFun as a specialist in the design and conception of fungal-based materials, as well as for the dissemination aspect of this project.
