Hal Foster

Hal Foster is Townsend Martin '17 Professor of Art and Archaeology at Princeton University. He is an associate member of the School of Architecture and the Department of German and works with the programs Media and Modernity and European Cultural Studies. His books include The First Pop Age: Painting and Subjectivity in the Art of Hamilton, Lichtenstein, Warhol, Richter and Rischa Complex (Verso, 2011), Prosthetic Gods (MIT Press, 2004), and Design and Crime (Verso, 2002).
A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Foster continues to write regularly of October (which he coedits), Artforum, and the London Review of Books.
