This rich dialogue between artistic vision and applied research has created a collection of textures, patterns and colors inspired by the history and landscapes surrounding Arles : the marshes of Camargue, the plains of La Crau, and the mineral reliefs of the Alpilles.

Each landscape contributed some natural resources to the collection. Among the multitude of plants found there, three were chosen to create the collection’s colors : chestnut bark offering a rich palette ranging from sunlit beiges to browns with golden reflections ; gall nuts formed by insects on oak trees, producing shades from subtle gray to deep black ; and finally, coreapsis, a cheerful flower that creates light yellow to bright scarlet red.

Merino wool from Arles, harvested locally, is transformed through a regional industrial ecosystem. These natural resources, developed by Atelier LUMA, result in textiles with rare distinctive aesthetic qualities and delicate tones.

Élitis and Atelier LUMA are developing, in harmony, a sensitive and nuanced palette that reveals the full expressive richness of materials. This approach gives the textile a vibrant, organic visual quality, enhancing their appeal while expressing a deep connection to the earth.

Racines, thus lays the foundation for a new textile model: responsible, attentive to natural cycles, and deeply rooted in local cultures. It demonstrates that contemporary creation can rely on local resources and activate sustainable supply chains enriched by ancestral know-how.

Through this unprecedented collaboration with Élitis, textile creator and publisher , Atelier LUMA’s research takes on a true change of scale: the natural dyeing and textile transformation processes, most of which were prototyped within the Atelier, have now evolved into production methods capable of creating a large-scale, responsible collection — one that remains attentive to natural cycles and deeply rooted in local cultures and craftsmanship.
