Land-Grabs on Agricultural Lands

with Lucile Leclair

Participant(s)  Lucile Leclair

It is a secret but powerful phenomenon that is radically transforming French agriculture: land grabbing. Industries wishing to control agricultural materials are buying up land by the hundreds of hectares. They take advantage of the loopholes in legislation, which the government allows to continue. From an investigation of several years and fed by numerous reports, Lucile Leclair reveals an underground mutation, which can be described as a land-grab. This not only results in an ever-increasing concentration of land-hold, but also stimulates industrial and chemical agriculture, aiming at maximum production at the expense of biodiversity.
